hair removal

Which areas of the body are suitable for laser hair removal?

Arms, under-arms, legs and bikini line. Face, upper lip, chin or around the nipple. In fact, virtually any part of the male or female body. For men, laser treatment is ideal for removing excessive hair from the ears, neck, back, chest or shoulders.

What types of laser do we use?

We use the most advanced RubyStar+ laser, which is best for people with fairer skin and fine hair, and a high power MeDioStar diode laser which is more suitable for darker skin and coarser hair.

How does the laser work?

The energy of the laser’s cool but powerful light goes straight to the shaft and roots of the hair, attacking the surrounding cell structures, removing unwanted hair and inhibiting further growth. It means you can look forward to a permanent reduction of unwanted hair.

Are there any side effects?

There have been occasional reports of temporary skin redness or pigmentation changes. However, at the Franklynn Centre we normally carry out a small “patch-test” on the patient’s skin before treatment begins. This virtually excludes any risk of side effects.

How does laser hair removal compare with alternative methods?

The alternative methods include using tweezers, waxing, shaving, depilatory creams and electrolysis. They all have their limitations and some are unquestionably painful. The results are generally short-lived. In contrast, laser hair removal is quick, gentle and long-lasting.

How many treatment sessions will be needed?

A person’s hair does not grow continuously. It goes through a growing stage for a while, then it stops. The laser light acts only on hair follicles that are actually growing at the time of your treatment. Some follicles will be dormant at that time but will soon start growing again, which is why more than one session is normally needed. For maximum long-term benefits, the Franklynn Centre generally recommends four sessions, four to six weeks apart.

Who will carry out the treatment?

A cosmetic laser nurse practitioner, highly experience in laser hair removal.

How much will the treatment cost?

It depends mainly on the size of the area to be treated, your hair’s growth cycle, and the number of sessions needed. You can be sure that the price will represent excellent value compared to other methods of hair removal. Laser treatment is more advanced, much more effective and long-lasting.

Can I start the treatment at any time?

Not if you have a recent sun tan and not if you have waxed the hair or used tweezers in the preceding four weeks. Other than that, treatment can start whenever you wish.

What is the first step?

Call the Franklynn Centre to plan your treatment or to arrange a FREE private consultation. We will discuss with you the treatment required and tell you the cost. Then we leave it to you to decide if you want to go ahead – there is no obligation.
